Being a Green Champion for your School or College
Being a Green Champion means encouraging people in your team/area to be more sustainable. This may be via little actions like switching the lights off in the kitchen when you leave or it could be something bigger. There are Green Champions and Green Teams around the colleges already.
-
Birkbeck College, Planning Department - We are asking for some of the bulbs to be taken out of the lights in our office as it is too bright. This not only makes it comfortable to work but saves energy.
- SOAS, Staff Development Office - We have incorporated Environmental Behaviour Training into our Dedicated Training Days
-
Birkbeck College, Geography - We are working with the Estates Department to offer projects to students which relate to environmental performance at the college
- IOE, Thomas Coram Research Unit - We have been composting all our food waste and using the compost in the garden at the back of our building.
-
IOE, Thomas Coram Research Unit - We use a lot of paper so have now set all our printers to print double sided by default. Those of us who have good eyesight are also printing two pages per sheet. The idea is that if we really have to print something, at least we can waste less paper doing it.
